Silvia y Mario was created by Silvia Chocron and Mario Korenwaser, both argentines and both with a long legacy of clothing experience.

Silvia's father (born in Argentina, with Sephardi and Moroccan background) owned a family factory that manufactured women's clothing since 1940, where Silvia worked during the 70's. He also had a store of "Ramos Generales" here, in that time, they used to sell all kinds of clothing and accessories.

Mario is also the son of an immigrant polish-jewish couple who worked in the fur and clothing business , here in Argentina and in Bolivia.

Silvia and Mario got married in 1980 and started working with small amounts of knitwear, and became very famous as they looked for the best quality and designs.

Silvia, being a great saleslady, started to sell to airline crew members. They first started in a small office on Florida street, a few blocks away from the current store location. With the help of Ramon Chocron (Silvia's father) and Laja (Lola) Goldsztein (Mario's mother), the business started growing.

People from all over the world would come and buy their sweaters. From foreigners to locals. Names such as André Agassi, Pablo Escobar Gaviria, Eric Clapton and many other famous people came to shop their gorgeous sweaters.

The crew members from different airlines, specially Avianca in the 80's and American and Delta Airlines in the 90's were fans of their products, buying many pieces as they were a big trend in Bogotá and the USA- Then the place started to feel a little small, so they moved to a bigger office,and then the first street store in the 90's.

It was also in the 90's when the couple's children Federico, Diego and Ariela started to work part time too. And that's when leather came in. The first leather sewing machine they bought was in 1995 and they put it right there, in the first floor of the store .With just one tailor. Year by year the growth of sales was unstoppable being the 2003/ 2005 the period when the production was at it's peak: 3 teams of 3 tailors each. Plus salesladies on rotation. People would be amazed by the quality and the speed they could have a custom fit leather pair of pants or a jacket made.

Nowadays, the factory is still working, but we also work with external tailors, who manage our styles and materials. Sweaters and other items are still an important part of our store, but true crown's jewel is the experience of custom leather garments.

Silvia, Ariela, Diego and Federico are still working everyday for their customers, along with a very  group of salesladies. Mario is not longer working with us, but you can find him very often coming to visit!

Definitely a family store, where customers can feel comfortable and as home!

Silvia y Mario fue creada por Silvia Chocron y Mario Korenwaser, ambos argentinos y ambos con un largo legado de familas textileras.

El padre de Silvia (nacido en Argentina, con raíces sefaradi y marroquíes) era dueño de una fábrica familiar que producía ropa de mujer, donde Silvia se inició como vendedora en los 70's. También tenía una tienda de "Ramos Generales" en Wheelright Santa Fé, que en ese tiempo, solían vender todo tipo de ropa y cosas para el hogar.

Mario también es hijo de una pareja polaca judía, emigrada, que trabajaba en el negocio de pieles y ropa, aquí en Argentina y en Bolivia.

Silvia y Mario se casaron en 1980 y comenzaron a trabajar con pequeñas cantidades de suéteres, y se hicieron muy famosos por tenes modelos muy lindos y calidades increíbles.

Primero comenzaron en una pequeña oficina en Florida 868, a pocas cuadras de la tienda actual. Con la ayuda de Ramon Chocron (padre de Silvia) y Lola Goldsztein (madre de Mario), fueron creciendo día a día. Y empezaron a trabajar con turismo. Gente de todo el mundo vendría a comprar sus suéteres. De extranjeros a locales. Nombres como André Agassi, Pablo Escobar Gaviria, Eric Clapton fueron solo algunos de los que compraron sweaters en los 80's.

Los miembros de la tripulación de diferentes aerolíneas, especialmente Avianca en los años 80, serían fanáticos de sus productos, haciedolos tendencia en Bogotá.

El lugar comenzó a hacérseles pequeño y se mudaron a una oficina más grande, despues a la primera tienda en la calle en la decada de los 90´s.

Fue en los años 90's cuando los hijos de la pareja, Federico, Diego y Ariela, comenzaron a trabajar también. Y ahí es cuando entró el cuero. La primera máquina de coser cuero se compró en 1995 y se instaló en elprimer piso del local. Con un solo sastre. Año tras año, el crecimiento de las ventas fue imparable, siendo el 2003/2005 el período en que la fàbrica fue la más grande: 3 equipos de 3 sastres cada uno. Además de las vendedoras. Hoy en día, la fábrica sigue funcionando, pero también trabajamos con sastres externos, que gestionan nuestros propios estilos y nuestros propios cueros. Los suéteres siguen siendo una parte importante de nuestra tienda, pero la perla es definitivamente la experiencia personalizada de hacerse una campera de cuero customizada. Silvia, Ariela, Diego y Federico siguen trabajando todos los días para sus clientes, junto con un grupo muy cálido de vendedoras. Mario ya no trabaja con nosotros, ¡pero puedes encontrarlo muy a menudo visitando! Definitivamente una tienda familiar, donde sentirse como en casa!

Since our beginning in 1978 with a small collection of sweaters, and  incorporation of leather garments in 1995, we've valued local work, high quality products and specialized customer service. We are proud to carry the heritage of handmade work, and show it to the world.

In our shop you will not only find an array of gorgeous jackets, but also hats, wallets, belts, gloves, selected furs and sweaters.

You will be able to buy a garment from the rack, or have your own tailor-made. Choosing details, colours, liners and zippers. And not paying a fortune for it.
